Ivy chapter 2

Waking up, at around three a.m., I could hear scuffling outside. I went to open the door of my cabin to see what it was when there was a huge explosion. I was knocked backwards across the room. I hit the floor hard, my ears were ringing. My front door was somewhere in the kitchen. I could feel pain; someone was hurt.

I ran outside and could just see through the smoke that Gary was lying on the floor. He wasn’t moving. I rushed over and fell to my knees beside him. After ripping open his shirt I immediately put my hands on chest. His heartbeat was slowing; he had massive internal injuries and his arm had been blown clean off. I tried to keep his heart steady while I started to heal his more serious injuries first.  People had started to appear around us.

“Find his arm, QUICKLY!” I shouted in a panic. I wondered who could do such a thing.

“Gary, can you hear me? Try to breathe normally – I’m taking as much pain as I can.”

Some of the more experienced healers had arrived, but if I removed my hands to let someone else take over, he would die. I was working as fast as I could, closing off the arteries near his left shoulder. Keeping his heart going was becoming a strain, I was getting tired fast.

“Here it is, Ivy, where do you want it?” I wasn’t sure who it was that had found Gary’s arm. I told them to put it as close to the shoulder as they could without touching either of us. My energy was dropping fast. I let go with one hand and pulled the lifeless limb so it was touching the shoulder. I reopened the arteries I had just blocked, and started to reattach the arm. It was hard and I was becoming very dizzy. I wasn’t going to finish. I kept my hands where they were as I slumped forward, continuing to heal. I passed out.

Deep Ch 10

Kane immediately stiffened in his seat. He parted his lips to speak but I held up my hand. “No talking,” I said. The candles flickered as I moved past them, stopping right in front of Kane. “You like?” I asked, slowly running my fingers over the lace. He raised an eyebrow and grinned wickedly.

Taking the hand he offered, I slid myself carefully into his lap, wrapping my legs around him. My eyes shifted as his hands moved slowly up my thighs and onto my body. Closing them, I arched my back with pleasure as warm lips touched my skin. I let out a small moan as his mouth found my breast. Looking down at him, Kane was watching my reaction through smouldering black eyes. The moment I felt teeth, I pushed him back against the couch tearing open his shirt. This was so unlike me but I couldn’t stop myself. Seeing the need in his eyes, I grabbed his hair and covered his mouth with my own. Slowly teasing his tongue, Kane moaned into my mouth as I ground my hips against him.

Feeling him move beneath me, I delved my tongue deeper. The heat emanating from him was intense, or was I getting colder? He thumbed open my bra and slid the straps off my shoulders. As his hands moved lower down my back, I felt my temperature dropping. Not now, I thought, please, not now. I shuddered as he whipped off his belt, throwing it across the room in one easy movement.

I pulled my lips away, stumbling off him onto the floor. Kane looked confused and severely frustrated. He sat, breathing heavily, holding what was left of my lingerie in one hand. I started to tremble, covering myself with my arms.

Spoiler book 3. Torn

Opening my eyes slowly, my head was slightly tender. Okay it was hurting a lot. Looking around the room, I wasn’t sure how I got here. A very expensive looking hotel room too. As I lay my head back down on the thankfully soft pillows, my heart skipped a beat. There was a man humming in the shower. “Crap!” I said a little too loud for my hangover and winced. Lifting up the satin sheets I breathed a sigh of relief as my underwear was still on. The bathroom door clicked open.

Alex came walking into the room soaking wet, wearing just a towel. Sitting up awkwardly, holding the sheet tightly, he handed me a bottle of water.

“Morning Ivy, sleep well?” he asked looking down at me. Steam emanating off his body, I just stared at him hoping I hadn’t done anything stupid; or anything at all with him.

“Please tell me nothing happened last night, Alex?” I begged, the sheet slipping as I tried to cover myself further. He grinned at me wickedly. “Alex!”

Alex adjusted his towel and sat on the edge of the bed next to me. Still clenching the sheet, I shuffled back across the bed a little.

“That depends on your point of view, Ivy love. You started a bit of a fight down the pub last night. You should learn to duck.” He lifted his hand and reached for my cheek. I moved my head back quickly, hitting it on the headboard; my hangover threatening to finish me off.

“You really want to walk around with that shiner? Stop being daft and let me heal you.” He reached for me again.

“Leave it I’m fine.” I protested, pushing his hand away. “You were saying about the bar?”

Looking disappointed at my refusal to let him heal me, Alex grabbed his trousers and headed back into the bathroom. “I think someone drugged you. You only had two drinks, Ivy. Surely you’re not that much of a light weight?” He poked his head out of the bathroom momentarily. “You know I’m supposed to look after you. How am I supposed to take you back to the lake with a black eye? The Elders will be furious!”

DEEP ch 11

The fog was lifting slowly from the lake as I waded in. The cold water crept further up my legs as I reached what I was looking at. The floating object bumped into my thighs. The soaked cloth was attached to something under the water. I pulled carefully so as not to rip it. The fine white lace looked familiar somehow. I pulled more and more of the lace out of the water. It was my dress – that’s where I had seen it before. I looked at the ring on my finger as the clouds shifted slightly; the sun shone briefly on it, causing it to sparkle. As the sun disappeared back behind the clouds, I sighed. Then a large lump attached to the dress floated to the surface. My stomach turned, seeing it was a body. I stepped closer to turn it over.

Horror spread through me as I looked down upon myself. Falling backwards into the cold water, I tried to get away from it. More bodies began floating to the surface. All around me, everywhere, all I could see were faces belonging to the people I love. Frantically, I searched for Kane. Please don’t let him be here. Please don’t let him be here.
